From Bodinayakanur in Theni district — the trading hub that handles the bulk of India's small cardamom. Natural green and unpolished, packed to the specification below. We ship natural green, unpolished cardamom only. We do not offer bleached or half-bleached white cardamom.

Zero customs duty into the UAE. Cardamom is one of only two Chapter 9 entries on the UAE's exempted-commodities list, so it enters at 0% on MFN terms — this predates CEPA and is not a preference we claim credit for. VAT is 5%, recoverable by a VAT-registered importer.

The range

Four more spices. Each from its own market.

We buy each spice at the market where that spice is actually traded — the cardamom auction at Bodinayakanur, the turmeric floor at Erode, the chilli markets at Ramanathapuram and Guntur, the tamarind mandis at Dindigul and Salem. The market goes on the certificate with the lot number. That is a smaller claim than a single origin, and a checkable one.

Sourced from Kanyakumari and the Lower Pulneys in Theni. Tamil Nadu is a small share of Indian pepper — we source these lots on price and quality, not on an origin claim we cannot defend against Kerala. Lots are priced against the Cochin print. Garbled only. We do not offer ungarbled, light berries, or white pepper.

Whole fingers from the ETMA market at Erode — India's second largest turmeric market. Erode Turmeric is a Geographical Indication registered in 2019. We buy the variety on the ETMA floor at Erode; we do not use the GI mark on our packaging. Whole fingers only. We do not offer bulbs, splits, polished turmeric or powder.

Capsicum annuum

Two chillies for two different buyers. Mundu is the round Tamil Nadu pod that Chettinad, sambar and Sri Lankan cooking actually specify — a long Andhra chilli is a substitution, not an equivalent. Ramanathapuram Mundu is a Geographical Indication registered in 2022 — the first chilli variety from Tamil Nadu to hold one. We buy the variety; we do not use the GI mark on our packaging. Sannam S4 is the trade-standard line, and it is what most Gulf wholesalers mean when they say red chilli without qualifying it. Both carry a mandatory Spices Board pre-shipment aflatoxin test, which means an independently issued certificate you can check before the goods move.

Chilli variety does not appear anywhere in customs data — both lines clear under the same tariff code. What distinguishes them is the ASTA colour value on the certificate, which is why we put it on the offer sheet.

Deseeded and defibred, pressed to blocks. Tamil Nadu is among India's two largest producers and Gulf demand runs year round, which makes this the cheapest line to trial and the easiest to re-order. Deseeded blocks only. We do not offer whole pods, paste, concentrate or kernel powder.

This is what goes into the proforma, not a marketing description. Every lot is released against a certificate of analysis from a NABL-accredited laboratory covering these parameters, and every carton carries a lot number that resolves to that certificate.

Specifications are correct to the best of our knowledge and are superseded by the contract for any individual consignment. Tariff codes identify the product; duty classification is your broker's determination. Import requirements change — confirm them with your customs broker.

Merchant exporter. Whole and raw only — no powders, no ground spice, no retail packing.
Loading port
Tuticorin (INTUT1) for LCL and containerised sea; Cochin for direct reefer; Tiruchirappalli (TRZ) for air.
Incoterms
FCA [named CFS] Tuticorin, Incoterms 2020 for LCL, with CFR quoted as a separate line. FOB for full container loads.
Currency
USD or AED. Rupee quotations on request.
Payment
30% advance on order confirmation, 70% against scanned Bill of Lading. Alternatively an irrevocable Letter of Credit at sight, confirmed, through HDFC Bank Ltd, Chennai.
Lead time
14–21 days from confirmed order to FCA for dry spices.

Quality and claims

We will meet a verified claim.

Every lot is inspected at source, sampled at packing, and released against a certificate of analysis covering the contract parameters. If a consignment arrives outside specification, notify us within seven days of discharge with photographs and lot numbers and appoint an independent surveyor.

A note on money: account details are issued only on our proforma invoice, on letterhead. We never send or amend banking instructions by message.

KL Global Exports is a proprietorship, so you deal with the principal rather than an account manager and an enquiry is answered the same day. Documents are issued in the proprietor's name; day-to-day trading is run under a registered Power of Attorney. If you need forty-container volumes, we are not the right supplier — and we would rather say so now.

These four lines are being built, not sold. Fresh produce sits under a different regulator and a cold chain that does not yet exist in the Theni–Madurai belt, so we are not quoting them. Talk to us now if you want to be in the first trial consignments.

Two things have to be true before any of this ships: APEDA registration, which gates every fresh line, and a cold chain we can stand behind from the field to the port. Neither is something to improvise on a consignment where a failed test is a total loss.

United Arab Emirates

Our first market, and the one the range is built for. We sell to the UAE-licensed importer of record — the import permit, product registration and municipality clearance sit with you.

Saudi Arabia

Any Saudi offer carries the SFDA Certificate of Conformity and foreign-establishment registration as named line items. They are real per-consignment costs and burying them in a headline price helps nobody.

Bangladesh

Declared on our Spices Board registration. Chamber-issued non-preferential Certificate of Origin applies.
